Summer Programming Projects

Summer is here. Time for Nerdfest 2010. I just made that up. Its not a real event as far as I know. I won't be taking classes this summer, so to satisfy my insatiable urge to learn, and to stay on top of my "game", I've decided to take on some personal side projects.

A while back I came across this great article by Jeff Atwood on his blog CodingHorror.com titled Why Can't Programmers.. Program? Its a relatively older article, but it's message has started to ring in my ears as my first semester in JAVA programming is coming to an end: will I be able to actually put into practice the techniques I am learning?
